Rocio Pizano was elected to the Board in November 2005. She has lived in Inglewood since 1982. She attended Felton Junior High school and graduated from Hawthorne High School. She is proud to be a Cougar!
Rocio’s husband is also a Hawthorne High Alumnus and has spent most of his life in the Lennox and Inglewood communities. Her child will be attending Centinela Valley Union High School District in the near future.
After working many different jobs after high school, Rocio realized that she would not get too far in life without furthering her education. She attended El Camino College and then graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1996. She obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance and a major in Accounting; she also has a minor in Business Economics.
Mrs. Pizano currently works at American Honda Motor Company in Torrance. She has been with the company since 1996. She worked with bankruptcies and repossessions and then moved into the Accounting department. Rocio currently works in the Treasury department that manages the cash position daily; she manages an in-house bank account for many of Honda’s subsidiaries and works in investing monies to make profits for the company.
Rocio has always been interested in helping her community and considers herself a very proud voter, always voting in all public elections making sure her voice counts. She says it is one way to make our voices heard. She has kept busy in various community activities through Honda including: California Coastal Cleanup Day, Rolling Readers, CHOC Walk and “Sharing is Caring” just to name a few. She is also involved with her Neighborhood Watch Program and is very interested in the events that happen in her community.
Rocio says she always tries to keep a positive outlook on life. Her motto is: “If you work hard, good things will follow.”
