Daniel Urrutia was elected to the board in November 2015. Mr. Urrutia has been a lifelong resident of Lawndale, attending local schools and graduating from Lawndale High School, El Camino College, and California State University Dominguez Hills. He holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding. Continuing his education, Urrutia is currently enrolled in an educational doctorate program at the University of Southern California.
Mr. Urrutia is also an active member of the community, working with the City of Lawndale's Parks & Recreation department and various committees that plan events to bring the community together. In addition, Mr. Urrutia serves as Vice President of the Lawndale Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides grants to educators for worthy projects that go beyond the standard curriculum.
Urrutia, who began his career in after-school education, works in Human Resources at a local school district and remains committed to his community and its students.
