Dr. Daniel D. Urrutia was elected to the board in November 2015. Dr. Urrutia has been a lifelong resident of Lawndale, attending local schools including Lawndale High School, El Camino College, California State University - Dominguez Hills, and the University of Southern California. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science, a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution, and a doctorate degree in Organizational Change and Leadership.
Dr. Urrutia is also an active member of the community, having worked with City of Lawndale's Parks & Recreation department and various committees that have planned events to bring the community together in the past. In addition, Dr. Urrutia serves as President of the Lawndale Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides grants to local educators for projects and activities that go beyond the standard curriculum.
Dr. Urrutia, who began his career in after-school education, works at a local school district and remains committed to the community and its students in many areas.
